Process vs. Result

I recently got into a discussion about who the better pitcher was in the 2nd half of the season for the St. Louis Cardinals between Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly.  The discussion basically boiled down into a old school vs. new school statistical showdown with my opponent using traditional stats like Wins and ERA to argue for Kelly while I used new stats or Sabermetrics, like FIP and K/9, to argue for Lynn.
